Q. What is an Environmental Master Plan?

An environmental master plan is a document that The City of Red Deer will use to define environmental priorities and goals. It will also provide strategies for how to reach those goals in the future.

Q. Why do we need an Environmental Master Plan?

Parks and open spaces are just one part of the environment in Red Deer. The Environmental Master Plan will establish priorities and targets for all aspects of the environment including Transportation, the Built Environment, Energy, Air, Water, Waste and Natural Areas.

Q. Who defines the environmental priorities, goals and vision?

You do! Public participation is an important part of the Environmental Master Plan process, after all it is your city! Your input will be collected at public workshops in June and again in the fall of 2010.
